Mr Mikko Ollikainen, Adaptation Officer at the Adaptation Fund Board Secretariat visited NDF March 22, 2011. The Adaptation Fund was established by the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to finance concrete adaptation projects and programmes in developing countries that are Parties to the Kyoto Protocol.
During the meeting Mr Ollikainen gave an informative presentation of the Adaption Fund. One of the main topics discussed was how adaptation projects are selected and what criteria are required to receive funding. NDF’s Country Program Managers Hannu Eerola and Aage Jørgensen gave a presentation of NDF screening criteria. Since both the Adaptation Fund and NDF finance climate-related adaptation projects the meeting was rewarding as experiences and knowledge were exchanged between the two institutions.
