The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of the long and fruitful collaboration between NDF and Benin and to discuss potential new opportunities. Also the Ambassador of Benin to Finland, H.E. NDF has financed six projects with Benin and provided a total of 25 million euro in financing during the past 23 years.  Four of these projects have strong linkages to the energy sector. One of these projects, Increased Access to Modern Energy (NDF C7), has recently been completed and NDF is in the process of assessing the final results and lessons learned. The specific objectives of  the NDF component were  to  reduce  deforestation,  promote  community  based sustainable wood fuel production and market management systems,  and  increase access  to and diversified choice of renewable and cleaner fuels.
