Nordic Development Fund participates in the annual meeting of IDB’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Initiative (SECCI).

The Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Initiative (SECCI) of the Inter-American Development Bank was established in 2009 and provides support to concrete climate change projects in Latin America and mainstreaming of climate change into IDB operations. SECCI receives support from bilateral development partners including Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. NDF is not a formal contributor, but does co-finance individual projects which also receive funding from SECCI. NDF has participated in the previous SECCI meetings.

The purpose of the meeting was to present resent results and impact from IDB's climate support and discuss plans and ideas for future work. Other topics included collaboration between Green Climate Fund and IDB as well as support to private sector development. The meeting also served to inform development partners about IDB's role in international events such as the recent UN Climate Summit, the Global Green Growth Forum in Copenhagen, the upcoming COP20 in December 2014, and next year's Latin American Global Green Growth Forum 2015.

The SECCI technical meeting took place in Madrid and was organized by IDB's European Office in collaboration with the Spanish Ministry for Economy and Competetiveness.
